How to cancel Premium Connectivity Subscription for Tesla

Can Tesla Premium Connectivity

Premium Connectivity is an optional data connective subscription to enhance your Tesla ownership experience with additional Entertainment, Navigation, and remote Sentry Mode functions. It works over a cellulite network LTE modem build into every Tesla. Premium Connectivity is a recurring monthly (or yearly) subscription that is billed to your credit card on file.

For months when you’re driving less or if you want to save some money, you may want to cancel your Premium Connectivity. You can resume the subscription at any time later on.

How to cancel your subscription before the next billing cycle

Note: You can’t cancel the subscription from your Tesla vehicles, it needs to be removed from your Tesla app, as the owner of the vehicle.

  1. Open your Tesla app, select your car if you have multiple Tesla product on your account.
  2. Find “Upgrades” under your car menu
  3. On the top right corner of your Upgrades screen there is a small “Manage” button, open that link.
  4. You will see Premium Connectivity listed as an active subscription, along with your next renewal date. Tap on this for details.
  5. You will see your billing information and past invoices on this next screen, along with a blue “Cancel Subscription” button. Tap to cancel.
  6. You may be asked to provide a reason why you’re cancelling on this next screen. Confirm you cancellation.
  7. You will receive a confirmation email about your cancellation. Your Premium Connectivity subscription should continue to work until the current subscription period expires.

What are you missing without Premium Connectivity?

Basic navigation and trip planning will continue to work. But you won’t have satellite imagery maps, or live traffic information for trip planning.

  • Built-in entertainment/streaming apps (such as Spotify, Apple Music, Youtube, etc..) will not work unless the car is connected to Wi-Fi. You can still stream music via Bluetooth from your phone, of course.
  • Another workaround is connecting your Tesla to you phone’s WiFi hotspot. Tesla cars can not stay connected to WiFi while driving too.
  • Sentry Mode live view will not work without Premium Connectivity.

What still works with basic connectivity?

Basic connectivity is free for eight years with new Teslas shipping today.

  • You can view realtime status and location of your vehicle from the Tesla app. Lock/unlock remotely, activate climate control, etc…
  • Basic navigation and trip planning from the in-car screen works with basic connectivity.
